Söderskär is on the cover of the Japan Airlines magazine Skyward during March. Inside the magazine there is a twelve-page article in which with the help of beautiful pictures describes both Tove Jansson and Finland as a destination. A significant part of the article focuses on the archipelago’s culture as an inspiration for Tove. Life in the islands is described with the help of entrepreneurs, who live and work in the archipelago.
This year, 100 years have passed this since the creator of the legendary Moomin characters, the globally distinguished artist Tove Jansson, was born.
In honour of the jubilee year a broad range of different events and occasions are organized in eastern Uusimaa. The local events emphasize above all on the artist’s love towards the archipelago, the archipelagian way of living and its people. There will be music, theatre and previously unpublished material from family and friends.
Tove Jansson has masterfully described life in the Finnish archipelago, nature and people. She has created art, stories and illustrations that speak to people around the world. Local entrepreneurs consider Tove Jansson as an important person, and her production is considered very valuable descriptive of the culture of the Finnish archipelago. The region’s entrepreneurs and associations decided to jointly celebrate Tove Jansson in 2014. During the year 2014 there will be various event organized in the region.
