The Exhibition of Tove and the archipelago showed how the local archipelago and sea appears in her art. The Exhibition was held at the Art Factory in Porvoo, Finland during the summer of 2014.
During the summer over 10 000 visitors from all over the world visited the exhibition. This video is from the last day of the exhibition on the 30th of August.
The Exhibition was a part of the Tove Jansson’s 100th anniversary celebration.

This exhibition; Tove and the archipelago is a result of an EU-project. We want to tell the you about the culture in the archipelago of this region. We will probably all se different things when we walk around the exhibition. If you visit the exhibition several times we hope you will see different things every time. Tove Jansson chose to spend a lot of time in the archipelago of this area. We are honored to celebrate her!
The exhibition Tove and the Archipelago is opening on the 11th of July 2014
On Friday the 11th of July 2014 will the exhibition Tove and the Archipelago open. The exhibition is held in the Art Factory. Preparations are going on and all material is collected. Building the exhibition will start in the beginning of week 28.
It’s two weeks until the exhibition of Tove and the archipelago will open!
The exhibition is about Tove and the archipelago and shows how the local archipelago and sea appears in her art. The boat Victoria is going to be the centerpiece at the exhibition. The boat is borrowed from the Maritime Centre Vellamo. Victoria was Tove’s boat and the boat is built in Eidisviken Pellinki 1962.
Thanks to gracious cooperation with Tove’s family and other helpful private persons, the gallery neighboring the church of Loviisa has the opportunity to show unique paintings, photographs and other material – some of which have never been displayed before.
A number of new stories by about Tove are also presented – Tove had many friends and acquaintances in the archipelago.
Special events are arranged during the summer and autumn, not the least for children and young people. Tove’s birthday on August 9th will be an extra festive day, celebrated with interviews and storytelling by Tove’s family and local friends – plus suprises! Quite in Tove’s spirit.
